The repair of Rogers
reinforcement rings Part 1
In being disappointed,
the reinforcement rings of vintage drums are often broken.
I introduce my challenge
of the repair of Rogers snare's reinforcement rings.
This is the batter-side's reinforcement
ring of Rogers snare.
This is the snare-side's reinforcement
ring...
I guess that these happen by
the aging.
I was afraid to become crueler.
SO,
I determined to repair it!
--- Please note! ---
If you try this, do
it with your self-responsibility.
There is no guarantee that the sound is returned to the original.
Then, let's collect the materials for
the repair!
These are materials to use for
the repair.
Clamps, rulers, felt and adhesives
If necessary, a thin file is
used.
If necessary, these are used,
too.
(Finishing papers, a coating
material and brushes)
Next, let's process
the materials.
Rulers are chamfered.
(See the upper one)
Let's give it heat, and bend
rulers.
Felt is put in the ruler.
This is the consideration not
to put a scratch on the shell.
These are jig for the clamps.
This is a concept photograph.
