The first photo is of my 1965 vintage Rogers Holiday kit in the steel grey ripple finish. It is a seven piece set consisting of: 2 x 20" bass drums, 2 x 12" toms, 1 x 13" tom, and a 16 x 16" floor tom. Those drums are all from 1965, made in Covington, Ohio. Cleveland interior tags. The snare drum is a 1970 model COB (chrome on brass) shell 5 x 14" Dynasonic. As you can see from the photo; the stands are not original Rogers stands. They are a mix of Ludwig and Pearl. This kit was played on by a professional jazz drummer: Bobby Previte, who is originally from Niagara Falls, New York State, USA. Which is very near to where I live. |
This photo is of a 1965 vintage Rogers 'Astoria' cocktail set. It consists of a 16 x 16" Holiday model floor tom which does double duty: the bottom head serves as the 'bass drum'; and the top head would be a normal tom. The snare drum mounts via a special 'cocktail' snare drum mount to the combination floor tom/bass drum. The snare drum is a 5 x 14" Powertone model; with a built-in Swiv-O-Matic tom mount with collet nose. (exactly the same type as the Swiv-O-Matic tom mounts) This Astoria kit was bought directly from the owner of Rogers Drum Company, Mr. Henry Grossman. It is complete with the original equipment cymbal holder, cowbell + holder, and the special 'Upbeat' model cocktail pedal. It is in near-mint condition. |
